Houthi Militia Attacks on Holy Sites Violate Religious and Humanitarian Values; Imam of Kaaba

MAKKAH: Imam of the Kaaba Sheikh Dr Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais has condemned what he described as attacks by the Houthi militia on holy sites, saying targeting sacred places goes against religious and humanitarian values and constitutes a violation of international law.

In a statement, Sheikh Al-Sudais said Islam emphasises the protection of human life, property and dignity and prohibits aggression.

He said the protection of holy sites was a responsibility that should be respected and stressed the need to strengthen national unity and solidarity amid the current regional situation.

Imam Urges Public to Rely on Verified Information

Sheikh Al-Sudais also urged the public to remain vigilant against rumours and obtain information only from reliable and verified sources.

He said social and national cohesion were important in confronting security challenges and dealing with periods of heightened tension.

The Imam of the Kaaba emphasised that maintaining unity and avoiding unverified information could help strengthen public confidence and social stability during the ongoing regional tensions.

The remarks came amid heightened security concerns in Saudi Arabia following reports of attacks attributed to the Houthi militia near the holy cities.
