Images Emerge of Damage to US Bases and Aircraft After Iranian Strikes

WASHINGTON: Images showing damage to US military bases, aircraft and other infrastructure following Iranian missile and drone strikes across the Middle East have emerged publicly for the first time.

According to CBS News, the photographs were provided by serving US personnel on condition of anonymity.

One of the photographs reportedly shows a damaged US Air Force aircraft at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

The aircraft appeared to have been split into sections, with parts of its wings separated from the main body.

Another image from the same base showed a Boeing E-3 Sentry aircraft damaged in an Iranian strike. Its tail section had been severed from the burned fuselage.

The E-3 Sentry is equipped with a large airborne radar system used for surveillance, intelligence gathering and command-and-control operations.

Additional photographs showed destroyed buildings, barracks and equipment at US military positions in Kuwait.

Images from Camp Buehring, a major US military staging area for ground forces, armoured vehicles and some aircraft, showed damaged infrastructure following Iranian attacks.

Another Kuwaiti facility, Camp Arifjan, also sustained damage to concrete structures, according to the report.

One US service member told CBS News that the extent of the damage to American bases had not been adequately communicated to the public.

The photographs emerged as the US Department of Defense Inspector General released a new report examining the impact of the Iran war.

According to the report cited by CBS News, the United States suffered up to $3.7 billion in equipment losses, including nearly 60 aircraft.

The assessment documented damage to US military positions across several countries in the Middle East.

The report provides further details about the military costs of the conflict and the pressure placed on US equipment and infrastructure.

CBS News reported that the Pentagon did not respond to a request for comment regarding the photographs.

The images provide visual evidence of damage at specific US military facilities, although they do not by themselves establish the full extent of American losses across the region.

The newly surfaced photographs, combined with the Inspector General’s findings, have renewed attention on the damage sustained by US forces during Iranian retaliatory operations and the broader military and logistical costs of the conflict.
