Railways Minister discuss resumption of more trains service from Monday and other matter of his ministry.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad chaired a meeting at Railways Headquarters in Lahore today.

During meeting, several issues including resumption of more trains’ service from Monday came under discussion.

Moreover, they discussed annual income from Railways lands, freight and scrap, trains outsourcing and trains running of loss, came under discussion.

Earlier, Minister Sheikh Rashid announced to resuming train operation from May 19.

He made this announcement, while addressing a news conference in Islamabad.

However, as per that decision, 15 each up and down trains run.

That limited train operation began strict observance of Standard Operating Procedure enabling people to celebrate Eid with their loved ones.

The minister had deferred the decision to resume full operation of the train service.

He said they would reconsider the policy after observing the overall situation of pandemic and people’s compliance with SOPs.

While responding to a question, he clarified that there is no age limit for the passengers.

Earlier, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments decided to open public transport in their respective provinces from today (Monday).

The transport had remained suspended due to coronavirus.
