Outgoing Afghan ambassador pays farewell call on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad today.

 

FM Qureshi assured Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Atif Mashal that Pakistan will continue playing facilitating role for regional peace and stability, including Afghan peace process.

The Foreign Minister said durable peace and stability in the region is linked to peace in Afghanistan.

He said intra-Afghan dialogue will pave the way for sustainable peace in Afghanistan.

The Afghan Ambassador thanked the Foreign Minister for good wishes.

Earlier, outgoing Afghan Ambassador Atif Mashal also met Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood

He reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for Afghanistan’s peace and reconciliation process.

Sohail Mahmood  said Pakistan is committed to enhance bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the outgoing Afghan ambassador expressed gratitude to Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood for a strong support.

He also thanked for active cooperation extended to him during his diplomatic mission in Islamabad.

In a tweet, he said they deliberated on the latest developments in Afghan peace process and the need for further strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

On Tuesday, Army commanders expressed hope for early commencement of intra Afghan dialogue.

They expressed this hope during the 234th Corps Commanders’ Conference.

Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa presided over the conference held at GHQ Rawalpindi.

The forum discussed geo-strategic and national security issues.The forum also reviewed situation at LOC, Pak-Afghan border and internal security environment.
