Opposition parties boycott Parliamentary Committee on Coronavirus meeting today.

It came to surface during the media briefing of Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz.

He briefed the media after a meeting of Parliamentary Committee on Coronavirus.

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser presided the meeting in Islamabad today.

Shibli Faraz regretted that the opposition demonstrated irresponsibility by not attending the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Coronavirus.

However, he vowed that the government would pursue the policy of protecting lives and livelihood of people to address the second wave of Covid-19 in the country.

The Minister said Pakistan’s strategy of combating the pandemic in its first wave was successful, which was widely appreciated.

While terming the Covid-19 as a national issue, he urged all the political parties have responsibility to play their role in this regard. He said there should be no political point-scoring on the issue.

The Minister said the PDM is following its personal agenda and they have no importance for the health and livelihood of people.

Earlier, Information Minister Shibli Faraz called for no politics on COVID-19 like critical issue.

In his tweet on Wednesday, he expressed hope that the opposition parties will attend the meeting of parliamentary committee on Coronavirus.

He hoped the Opposition would give their suggestions to cope with the implications of the virus.

Shibli said we should move forward with consultations with regards to the health and lives of the people.
