Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said this, while responding to the media queries.

He further noted the guided tour to IIOJK and meeting with hand-picked people as a smokescreen.

He said said India could not even feign ‘normalcy’ with continuing military siege and restrictions.

The FO spokesperson slammed the talk of ‘inclusive development.’

Furthermore, he noted India is depriving hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris of basic rights and economic opportunities.

Therefore, he rejected diplomats visit and so-called meetings as farcical.

He said people’s rights to assembly, free movement, freedom of expression, and even to the safety of life and property are routinely violated in the IIOJK with impunity.

Chaudhri further said that so-called ‘development’ narrative is also an attempt to mislead the international community,” he said.

Sham electoral exercise

He stressed that said no sham electoral exercise in IIOJK could substitute the UN Security Council-mandated plebiscite.

Such “guided tours” to the occupied territory and meetings with hand-picked people aimed to create a smoke-screen.

That aimed to divert attention from the egregious human rights violations in IIOJK.

The FO said it also aimed to divert attention from India’s illegal measures to change the demographic structure of the IOJK.

Moreover, the FO spokesperson also referred to the statement from UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues and Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion and belief.

On the concluding day of this visit, they had rightly highlighted the Indian attempts to alter the demographics of the region.

That UN mission also highlighted India undermining the minorities’ ability to exercise effectively their human rights.
