FMs of Pakistan and Norway hold telephonic talk on bilateral ties.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has expressed satisfaction over the Norwegian investment in Pakistan.

He expressed these feelings during his telephonic conversation with Norwegian counterpart Ine Eriksen Søreide.

Moreover, Qureshi appreciated the growing business relations between Pakistan and Norway.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of Norway appreciated the role of Government of Pakistan in facilitating the signing of solar power project between Scatec and Nizam Energy.

She also lauded the constructive role of Norwegians of Pakistani origin in the economic development of Norway.

The two Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in diverse sectors such as trade, investment and clean energy.

On Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Qureshi underscored that there was no military solution to the conflict.

He briefed his Norwegian counterpart on Pakistan’s positive contribution to the Afghan peace process.

Furthermore, he expressed the hope that the Afghan leaders would seize this historic opportunity to secure an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement.

Constructive engagement with EU countries

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi stressed the need to diversify exports to the EU countries.

He called for this to fully utilize the benefits under the GSP Plus status.

Qureshi said, while addressing the virtual Meeting on Economic Diplomacy with Pakistani Envoys in European Countries.

He further emphasized the need to constructively engage with Parliamentarians in Europe and EU Parliament.

The engagement aims at maximizing avenues for economic outreach and collaboration.

The Foreign Minister appreciated the increased inflow of investment from Europe into Pakistan.

He urged the Missions to proactively engage with their interlocutors to showcase the investment potential of the country.

The FM also highlighted the government’s continued efforts in this regard.

Moreover, he highlighted Pakistan’s impressive improvement in Ease of Doing Business ranking.

He instructed the Envoys to identify and address bottlenecks that hinder expansion of economic collaboration with host countries.
