Hamas accepts Gaza truce proposed by Qatar, Egypt

The Palestinian resistance organization Hamas has accepted the ceasefire agreement proposed by Qatar and Egypt regarding the ceasefire in Gaza.

According to a foreign news agency, the head of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, has informed the Qatari and Egyptian mediators that Hamas accepts their proposals regarding the ceasefire in Gaza.

Hamas said the ball is now in Israel’s court regarding the ceasefire.

Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya has told Arab media that mediators have informed the group that the US president is committed to ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

Khalil al-Hayya said that the proposed ceasefire will consist of 3 phases. In the first phase, the displaced Palestinians will return to their homes and the delivery of aid and fuel to Gaza will begin. He further said that in the first phase, 50 Palestinian prisoners will be released by Israel in exchange for each female Israeli prisoner. In the second phase, male Israeli prisoners will be released by Hamas, but the number of Palestinians to be released in exchange has not been determined.

According to Khalil al-Hayya, the implementation of the Gaza reconstruction plan will begin in the third phase.

Israeli officials say they are reviewing the proposals approved by Hamas, which is not the framework we approved.

According to a foreign news agency, an Israeli official said on condition of anonymity that the proposals agreed to by Hamas would have some “far-reaching” consequences that Israel cannot accept.

Hamas’s agreement to the ceasefire proposals comes at a time when Israel has begun preparations for a ground offensive in southern Gaza’s Rafah region.

It should be remembered that the international community has already warned Israel of the disastrous consequences in case of a ground operation in Rafah.
