Govt eyes promotion of dairy industry for GDP growth and poverty alleviation as well as food security.

In this regard, President Dr. Arif Alvi shared views, while talking to a delegation from dairy industry in Islamabad on Monday.

He emphasized on developing the dairy industry on modern lines.

Furthermore, he said that the government is paying special attention on promotion of dairy industry for growth in GDP, food security and poverty alleviation.

He also stressed the need for promoting dairy industry for creating employment opportunities.

Besides, he called for earning foreign exchange reserves.

Moreover, President Alvi said dairy industry has played an important role in strengthening national economy.

He advised the the people associated with dairy industry to get skilled and aware of the modern techniques.

The President assured the government’s cooperation to the producers and processors from the dairy industry for a favorable environment.

Furthermore, he asked the stakeholders to prepare national strategy and future policy for promotion of the dairy sector.

Meanwhile, PBS tasked to compare wholesale and retail prices of essential food items regularly.

Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin has assigned the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics to adopt this practice.

He asked PBS for regularly comparing the difference in wholesale and retail prices.

Essential food items prices

He referred to essential food items prices in different districts across the country.

Tarin issued these directives, while addressing an introductory meeting at Ministry of Finance in Islamabad today.

He further suggested addressing the root cause of inflation with devising a new hierarchy of administrative control.

Furthermore, he said that proposed control will provide the most needed relief to the masses.

The Minister said that the data, if available on real time basis on the PBS dash-board, will help in maintaining the strategic reserves of the essential commodities across the country.
