Arif Alvi raised PTI’s concerns with PM on level playing field for elections

President Arif Alvi on Wednesday conveyed the concerns of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar regarding the erosion of fundamental rights and the importance of ensuring a level playing field for all political parties for February 8, 2024 general elections.
Arif Alvi forwarded a letter addressed to Kakar by the General Secretary of PTI, Omar Ayub Khan, which detailed the party’s apprehensions and grievances, according to a statement issued by the President’s Office.
In the letter Omar Ayub Khan is concerned on the erosion of fundamental rights, with particular reference to enforced disappearances, forced conversions of political loyalties, absence of level playing field for major political parties, crackdown on media and mistreatment of female political activists through prolonged illegal detentions.
The President of Pakistan’s twitter handle published the contents of the letter in a series of (13) tweets on (X) – formerly twitter.

The President cited the Constitution of Pakistan Article 4 and Article 19 which ensures the freedom of political activities of a person as well as the right to freedom of speech and expression, including freedom of the press.
The PTI has alleged that it is being stopped from carrying out political activities and several of its leaders are incarcerated following violence in the country on May 9.
