Close associate of ex-al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden arrested in Gujarat

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) ,Punjab, has arrested a close aide of former Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden from Gujarat.

CTD DIG Usman Akram Gondal said in a press conference that the police arrested a close associate of killed Osama bin Laden during an intelligence-based operation. Terrorist Amin Al-Haq is the leading fighter of Al-Qaeda whose name is included in the United Nations’ list of global terrorists.

Gondal further said that the investigation has been started after registering the arrest of Aminul Haq. Haq was known internationally as the security supervisor of Osama Bin Laden.

The DIG said that the terrorist was arrested in 2007 and served 4 years sentence. An agency of the enemy country did a lot of propaganda on him. The terrorist spotted in Afghanistan in August 2021 and recently entered into Pakistan. We are investigating what the terrorist was doing in Pakistan, the official said.

He added the terrorist also has the national identity card of Pakistan carrying addresses of Lahore and Haripur. We are investigation how did the terrorist come to Pakistan and with which ID did he use to travel.

Gondal further said that the case has been registered against the arrested terrorist.

It should be remembered that Osama bin Laden, the former head of al-Qaeda, was killed by American commandos in Abbottabad on May 2, 2011.
