Federal Cabinet will approve draft of 26th constitutional amendment today
An urgent meeting of the federal Cabinet was called to consider the draft of the 26th constitutional amendment.
The federal Cabinet meeting was held in the Prime Minister’s Chamber at the Parliament House. All federal ministers were present in the Prime Minister’s Chamber in Parliament.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Attorney General Mansoor Usman, Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazir Tarar and Mohsin Naqvi were also present in the Parliament House.
After the meeting, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar said that the Cabinet meeting will be held again today (Sunday) at 2:30 pm. After some changes, the amendment bill will be approved by the Cabinet today.
Tarar further said that the draft was finalized in the parliamentary committee and Maulana Fazlur Rehman was also made a part of the draft. The draft which was approved by the committee was placed before the Cabinet, which has been briefed. This has been going on continuously for 4 weeks, he added.
On the other hand, the Senate meeting will resume at 3pm today afternoon, while the meeting of the National Assembly will be held at 6pm in the evening.
