Pakistan name playing XI for first South Africa ODI
Pakistan on Tuesday announced the playing XI for the opening match of the ODI series against South Africa.
The pace trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf will lead the bowling attack against the protease.
While Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique will open the batting for the visitors. They were followed by Babar Azam at number three.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan, Kamran Ghulam, Salman Ali Agha and Muhammad Irfan Khan will starr in Pakistan’s middle-order.
Abrar Ahmed is playing in as a specialist spinner.
This series marks Mohammad Rizwan’s third assignment as Pakistan’s ODI captain.
His first assignment was on tour of Australia, where they play a three-match ODI series.
He successfully guided the team to a 2-1 series victory, Pakistan’s first series win on Australian soil in 22 years. Rizwan’s second assignment was against Zimbabwe, where the Men in Green triumphed 2-1 in a three-match ODI series.
However, the start of the South Africa tour has not been kind to Pakistan, with the team losing the three-match T20I series 2-0.
