Saudi national arrested after car attack on German Christmas market kills 5

The death toll from a car that rammed into a German Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg rose to five on Saturday and a Saudi man was arrested on suspicion of ploughing a car into the crowd.
According to newspaper report, scores of people were injured in the attack on Friday evening.
The attack came amid fierce debate over migration and security during an election campaign in the country in which the far right is polling strongly.
German newspaper Bild said that police were not immediately available to comment on casualties.
Local authorities had initially said at least two people were killed and had warned that the toll could rise.
The Bild report claimed 41 people were critically wounded and 86 were receiving treatment at hospital for serious wounds and another 78 sustained minor injuries.
The suspect from Saudi Arabia was a 50-year-old medical doctor living in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt, said regional premier Reiner Haseloff. He was speaking at a scene cordoned off and guarded by police commandos.
