Haris Zeb set to become first Pakistani-origin footballer in FIFA Club World Cup

Haris Zeb, the New Zealand footballer is all set to become the first player of Pakistan origin player to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup after signing with Auckland City FC.
Zeb, 23-year-old left winger, had previously played for Birkenhead United. Now, he has joined Auckland City FC and begun pre-season training with the squad.

Auckland City FC secured its place in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by winning the 2024 OFC Champions League.

The club will compete in the expanded 32-team 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The event will take place in the United States.

Auckland City FC will face European powerhouse Bayern Munich, Argentine giants Boca Juniors, and Portugal’s Benfica in the group stage.

Haris Zeb was born on May 15, 2001 in New Zealand, to Pakistani parents. He holds dual citizenship, which made him eligible to represent Pakistan internationally.

In 2023, Zeb was called up to the Pakistan national team for the Four Nations Cup in Mauritius but missed the event due to injury.

He has played for several New Zealand clubs, including Miramar Rangers and Christchurch United.

Zeb’s move to Auckland City marks a significant step in his career as he prepares to play on the biggest stage in club football.
