These changes are set to take effect from the commencement of Ramadan, expected on March 2, 2025, subject to the official moon sighting.
Adjusted Banking Hours During Ramadan
According to the SBP’s directive, the following schedule will be observed throughout Ramadan:
Monday to Thursday:
- Office Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a prayer break from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Public Dealing Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., without any breaks.
Friday:
- Office Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., without any breaks.
- Public Dealing Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., without any breaks.
These timings are designed to facilitate both the operational needs of banks and the convenience of customers during the fasting month.
Bank Holiday on First Day of Ramadan
In line with tradition, the SBP has declared a “Bank Holiday” on the first day of Ramadan for the purpose of Zakat deduction. On this day, all banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) will remain closed to the public.
However, employees are required to report to work as usual to carry out internal operations. This practice ensures the systematic deduction of Zakat from applicable accounts, as mandated by Pakistani law.
Resumption of Regular Hours Post-Ramadan
Following the conclusion of Ramadan and the observance of Eid-ul-Fitr, banks will revert to their standard operating hours. Customers are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly and stay informed about any further updates from their respective banks.
For more detailed information, customers can visit the official SBP website or contact their local bank branches.
