Mohammad Amir to play IPL in 2026?
Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir stated that he would be eligible to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2026.
According to him, he would love to explore if opportunity arrive.
“By next year, I will have the opportunity to play in the IPL and if given the chance then why not. I will play in the IPL,” said Amir.
Amir married to Narjis, who is a UK citizen and the left-arm quick is hoping to get an UK passport, which will open the doors for him to play in the IPL, similar to former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood.
When asked what will be his reactions when he will be criticise in Pakistan for playing in the IPL?
Amir, without mentioning Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja, responded: “Pakistani cricketers were banned in the IPL, but our former cricketers were doing commentary and were also coach of the franchise.”
He went on to add that he has a lot of respect for Virat Kohli, who gifted his bat to the Pakistan pacer in 2016.
“Virat is great and admires talent,” said Amir. “Virat gifted me his bat and I was overwhelmed by his action.”
“I have always been a great admirer of his batting and he is of my bowling. I played some good knocks with his bat.”
Furthermore, he revealed that he would love to play for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru – the IPL franchise where Virat Kohli plays.
