Afridi slams PCB for of sacking Rizwan as T20 captain

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for sacking Mohammad Rizwan as T20I captain for the upcoming New Zealand tour.
The former Pakistan captain also criticized the board’s decision-making in Pakistan cricket, stating that lack of merit-based selections led to problems.
He pointed out that players removed from T20 cricket often return without a clear selection process.
“Every PCB chairman believes he can fix everything, but why doesn’t the system change along with the faces? It seems cricket is still in the ICU, and we only talk about surgeries before major events,” he said.
He also took a jab at coaches for blaming players after losses while taking full credit for victories.
Regarding the New Zealand series, Afridi supported Agha Salman as ODI captain but said he was not the right choice for T20 leadership.
He emphasised that Rizwan should have remained captain for the T20 format.
Afridi also suggested that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi should focus on a single role instead of handling multiple positions.
