JIT summons 16 PTI members again over alleged negative propaganda

A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has summoned 16 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the second time in connection with alleged negative propaganda on social media, sources said.

According to sources, official summons have been issued to these individuals, requiring them to appear before the JIT on March 18, 2025. Among those summoned are Syed Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, and Muhammad Hammad Azhar.

Other individuals who received summons include Aun Abbas, Muhammad Shehbaz Shabbir, Waqas Akram, and Taimoor Saleem Khan, along with Sibghatullah Warak, Azhar Mashwani, Muhammad Noman Afzal, Jibran Ilyas, Salman Raza, Zulfi Bukhari, Moosa Warak, and Ali Malik, sources revealed.

Meanwhile, PTI leaders Barrister Gohar, Rauf Hassan, and Shah Farman have already appeared before the JIT. However, Aliya Khan, sister of PTI founder, failed to appear on March 14, 2025, despite being summoned. In response, the JIT has now issued another notice, summoning her on March 19, 2025.

The JIT is conducting an investigation based on collected evidence regarding alleged anti-state propaganda, sources stated.

The investigation team was established under Notification No. F.No.8/9/2024-FIA/ and operates under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016. It is being led by the Inspector General of Police, Islamabad.

The summons explicitly warn all individuals to clarify their positions regarding the allegations, sources added.
