‘Students don’t know basic math’: Trump signs order to close Education Department

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to close the Department of Education.
According to a foreign news agency, Trump has ordered the Secretary of Education to start the process of closing the department.
“We’re going to close the Department of Education as soon as possible, it’s of no use to us, we want to hand over our students back to the states,” Trump said at the signing ceremony of the executive order at the White House.
Democrats called President Trump’s move to close the Department of Education disastrous.
Democratic leader Chuck Schumer responded to Trump’s move, saying Trump’s terrible decision would affect teachers, students and parents.
He said the courts must uphold the rule of law to stop Trump’s brutal actions.
Under the law, the president needs congressional approval to close the education department.
