How to Apply for HEC’s International Fellowship – Check here

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan is offering a six-month research fellowship abroad for PhD students enrolled in Pakistani universities.

This program aims to improve research quality and help students connect with international universities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, students must:

• Be a citizen of Pakistan or AJK.

• Be enrolled in a full-time PhD program in Pakistan.

• Have completed 18 credit hours of PhD coursework.

• Be between 18 months and 3 years into their PhD.

• Have passed the GAT subject test or university entry test.

• Have approval for their research topic and synopsis from BASR or DASR.

• Have an acceptance letter from a top 200 ranked university abroad.

• Ensure the foreign supervisor is not a previous guide of the local supervisor.

How to Apply

Candidates must apply online at : https://scholarship.hec.gov.pk

They must upload the following documents:

• Acceptance letter from the foreign university

• CVs of local and foreign supervisors

• Approved PhD research synopsis

• Recommendation letter from local supervisor

• NOC from HEC (if holding another scholarship)

• NOC from employer (if working)

• Passport copy and academic documents

• GRE test result

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

What the Fellowship Covers

• Airfare: Up to $1300 for return ticket

• Monthly Living Allowance: Depends on country (e.g., $1500/month in the USA)

• Bench Fee: Up to $3500 (if mentioned in the acceptance letter)

Important Notes

• Selected students must return to Pakistan and complete their PhD after the fellowship.

• The award must be used within six months of receiving the award letter.

• The application deadline for the 57th batch is March 30, 2025.
