Pakistan restores passports & IDs linked to Qazi Faez Isa attack

04 April, 2025 21:57

The identity cards and passports of Pakistanis that were revoked in connection with the attack on former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa in London have been restored.

In October last year, the former chief justice’s car was targeted after protests erupted over his visit to the Middle Temple in London.

In this regard, the Pakistani Interior Ministry had identified the individuals involved and ordered action, and Pakistan had written to the British government demanding their extradition.

However, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had also announced the initiation of proceedings to revoke the citizenship of these individuals, but this action has now been stopped.

According to sources, the Pakistani government has stopped the process of revoking the identity documents of people belonging to the PTI.

Earlier, a clerk from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Customs has been suspended, and a case has been filed after smuggled mobile phones and other goods were found following a road accident near Bisham in Lower Kohistan on March 30.

On March 30, 2025, two officials of Gilgit-Baltistan Customs, who were travelling in a private hire vehicle, met with an accident near Bisham city.
The local police recovered 210 mobile phones and other items on the spot.

The police also prepared a recovery report which is on file with the government records. One official, Hafiz Muhammad Nazim Butt (Arresting Officer), was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at PIMS Islamabad, while the other official, Muhammad Abu Bakr (Upper Division Clerk), was unharmed.
