Hannah-Ireland Durando Discovers She Has Rare Brain Disorder After Listening to Taylor Swift’s Song

23 April, 2025 13:03

While jamming out to Taylor Swift in her car, 24-year-old Hannah-Ireland Durando from North Carolina had no idea her life was about to change. The self-proclaimed Swiftie was singing along to “Haunted (Taylor’s Version)” on her way to work when something felt off. “I was belting it out, but then my mind went blank,” she told reporters.

At first, Hannah-Ireland Durando shrugged it off. Everyone forgets a lyric now and then, right? But things quickly worsened—her energy vanished, getting out of bed became a struggle, and she lost interest in things she used to love, like Marvel movies and social outings.

Doctors initially dismissed her symptoms, saying they were likely stress-related or “normal for women,” she recalled. But in August 2024, everything changed. Durando collapsed at work with ear pain, blurred vision, and dizziness. A CT scan revealed what doctors first thought was a tumor pressing on her frontal lobe, which affects memory and emotions.

By December, further testing uncovered the real issue: a cavernoma—an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in her brain. Surgery isn’t an option due to its location, and now she lives with migraines, balance issues, and memory loss.

Despite it all, Durando remains resilient. “I wish I had pushed harder and wasn’t ignored,” she said. Now, she hopes her story encourages young women to advocate for their health. Remembering lyrics is still a challenge, but one day, she dreams of singing every word of her favorite Taylor Swift songs again—just like before.
