Drones, Quadcopters Use Banned Over Public Safety Concerns

12 May, 2025 16:10

In response to growing security concerns, the Peshawar district administration has enforced a 30-day ban on the use of drones and quadcopters under Section 144 of the CrPC.

Officials stated that the move aims to protect public safety, secure sensitive sites, and prevent potential disruptions to peace. Citizens have been advised to strictly follow the directive, with authorities warning that violators will face legal consequences. Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious drone activity to the relevant departments.

This action comes amid heightened tensions, as Pakistan’s armed forces have reportedly shot down more than 75 Indian drones, according to the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR).

On Sunday night, Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed, during a joint press conference with DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry and Vice Admiral Rab Nawaz of the Pakistan Navy, revealed that Pakistan had successfully deployed GPS jamming technology to intercept Indian drones targeting civilian areas.

He highlighted that the drones were neutralized before causing any harm, crediting advanced radar surveillance and rapid military response. Aurangzeb also confirmed that Pakistan’s air defence systems had been closely monitoring all aerial activity, using cutting-edge jamming tools to ensure the safety of civilians during the recent conflict.
