Pakistan Street Child Football Team prepares for Norway Cup 2025

14 May, 2025 23:20

A three-month-long training camp is currently underway at the Islamabad Sports Complex for Pakistan’s Street Child Football Team, as preparations ramp up for the Norway Cup 2025, set to kick off on July 26 in Oslo.

The camp is part of the Maidan Project, a national talent hunt that scouted over 2,100 young footballers from 27 districts across Pakistan. Following a rigorous selection process, 60 promising players have been shortlisted and brought to Islamabad for further training and evaluation.

This camp will determine the final squad that will represent Pakistan in one of the world’s largest youth football tournaments. Beyond football drills and tactics, the initiative is ensuring full support for the young athletes—including accommodation, nutrition, and education, aiming to develop them both on and off the field.

Pakistan has made impressive strides in recent editions of the Norway Cup, winning silver in 2023 and reaching the semi-finals in 2024. With increased preparation and talent depth, expectations are high for a strong showing in this year’s tournament.

The Maidan Project and the ongoing training camp are being widely applauded for empowering underprivileged youth through sports and giving them a chance to shine on the international stage.
