KP Government Unveils Welfare Scheme for Families of Deceased Household Heads
Govt approves free life insurance scheme for KP citizens
In a significant step towards strengthening social protection, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved a comprehensive life insurance program aimed at providing immediate financial relief to families who lose their primary breadwinner.
The program, which will cost the provincial government Rs4.5 billion annually, was announced by Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Advisor to the KP Government on Information.
Financial Assistance Based on Age of the Deceased
Under this newly approved scheme:
-
Families of deceased individuals under the age of 60 will receive Rs1 million.
-
Families of those aged 60 and above will receive Rs5 million in compensation.
Addressing Both Emotional and Economic Loss
Barrister Saif explained that the death of a family’s main earner often leads to severe financial hardship, adding to the emotional trauma of the loss.
“This program is designed to provide a safety net in moments of personal tragedy,” he stated. “We aim to reduce the economic shock faced by families during such difficult times.”
Commitment to Public Welfare
The life insurance initiative reflects the KP government’s broader commitment to public welfare and social support systems. Officials believe the program will bring greater security and peace of mind to thousands of households across the province.
“This is not just financial assistance—it’s a message of solidarity,” Barrister Saif added. “We are standing with our people in their most vulnerable moments.”
