Govt to Remove PTV Fee from Electricity Bills, PM to Announce
PTV Fee from Electricity Bills
Islamabad – The federal government has decided to eliminate the monthly PTV fee from electricity bills, with an official announcement expected by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday.
Currently, a PTV fee of Rs 35 is collected every month from domestic electricity consumers. Commercial and industrial users also pay PTV fees as part of their electricity bills.
The decision comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to prepare a plan for removing unnecessary surcharges, including the PTV fee, to provide tariff relief to consumers.
According to sources, a new mechanism for funding Pakistan Television (PTV) will be introduced to ensure its financial sustainability without burdening electricity users.
This move is aimed at reducing electricity costs and easing inflationary pressure on the public.
