PM Arrives in Azerbaijan for 17th ECO Summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Azerbaijan on Thursday to attend the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), being held from July 3–4 in Khankendi.

The summit brings together leaders from ECO member states, observers, and international organizations to promote regional development through economic integration.

Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, the PM was warmly received at Fuzuli Airport by Azerbaijan’s Minister for Culture Adil Karimli and other dignitaries.

During the summit, PM Shehbaz will present Pakistan’s stance on key global and regional issues, reaffirm commitment to the ECO Vision 2025, and advocate for increased intra-regional trade, connectivity, energy cooperation, and climate resilience.

The summit’s theme is “New ECO Vision for a Sustainable and Climate Resilient Future.” PM Shehbaz is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with ECO leaders on the sidelines.

The event includes ECO Week (July 1–4), which features youth forums, gender inclusion programs, and economic cooperation events across various cities in Azerbaijan.

Pakistan continues to play an active role in ECO, aiming to strengthen economic ties and regional cooperation.
