The Punjab Assembly witnessed shocking scenes on Monday when a heated argument turned physical between PTI MPA Khalid Nisar Dogar and PML-N MPA Hassan Riaz.
According to reports, a verbal clash quickly escalated, with Dogar lunging at Riaz during the session. The scuffle, which unfolded in full view of legislators and TV cameras, forced security personnel and lawmakers to intervene, leading the Speaker to abruptly adjourn the session.
The incident spread rapidly on social media, with video clips trending within minutes and triggering nationwide outrage.
Lawmakers from all parties condemned the violence.
“This House is not a battlefield,” one senior member said. “Such behavior is a stain on our politics.”
The Punjab Assembly is now reviewing its code of conduct, and disciplinary action against Dogar appears likely.
While the Assembly has seen disruption before, this “slap heard around the House” may become one of the most dramatic moments in recent political history.
