India Submits CM Gandapur’s Statement to FATF as Evidence Against Pakistan

31 July, 2025 18:17

India has submitted a controversial statement by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as part of its case against Pakistan.

According to FATF officials, the Indian government presented Gandapur’s remarks as proof to support their claim that Pakistan is backing terrorists.

In his statement, CM Gandapur had alleged, “We arrest Taliban members, but our own institutions release them.” India used this as a key point to urge FATF to place Pakistan back on the grey list — a watchlist for countries allegedly failing to combat terrorism financing.

FATF officials confirmed that India called the statement a “charge sheet” against Pakistan and claimed it shows the country supports militants.

Pakistan had been on FATF’s grey list from 2018 until it was removed in October 2022 after meeting several key requirements. Since then, Indian officials and media have continued efforts to highlight Pakistan’s weaknesses and push for its re-listing.

This development has raised concerns in Pakistan over how internal political statements can be used by rival nations on international platforms.
