US Issues Security Alert for Citizens in Pakistan

The United States Consulate in Karachi has issued a security alert, advising American citizens and diplomatic staff in the city to remain cautious amid reported threats.

Warning Issued Over Threats to High-End Hotels

According to a statement from the US Consulate, there has been a report of a possible threat targeting luxury hotels in Karachi.
“The U.S. Consulate General Karachi received a report of a threat directed at high-end hotels in Karachi,” the alert said.

As a result, the US has taken precautionary steps by restricting official visits to certain locations.
“The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi has temporarily limited visits by official U.S. government personnel to these hotels.”

Public Advisory for US Nationals

The consulate has urged American citizens in Karachi to avoid crowded areas and limit non-essential travel.
“The U.S. Embassy and Consulates sometimes place areas such as tourist attractions, hotels, markets, shopping malls and restaurants off-limits to official U.S. government personnel,” the advisory mentioned.

US nationals have been asked to remain vigilant.
“Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists/Westerners,” the alert added.

They are also advised to avoid crowds, keep a low profile, and beware of surroundings as part of the recommended safety measures.
