PTI Protest Expected Outside Adiala Jail

04 August, 2025 20:32

RAWALPINDI – Adiala Jail authorities have written to the City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi requesting enhanced security, following reports of a possible protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters outside the jail.

According to jail sources, PTI members are expected to gather in large numbers, raising concerns about the jail’s security and the potential for a law-and-order situation.

The local administration has already imposed Section 144 around Adiala Jail, banning gatherings to maintain public order. Inside the jail, security measures have also been tightened, with Rangers deployed to prevent any untoward incidents.

Earlier, Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur addressed a ceremony in Peshawar where he announced new initiatives for the police force.

He said the provincial government has started working on a policy to allot residential plots to the families of martyred police officers.

“We are equipping the KP Police with modern technology to enhance their capability,” Gandapur stated.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the challenges faced by the force, saying, “The terrorists KP Police are fighting are not ordinary; they are highly trained and dangerous.”

These steps are part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen the province’s security and honor the sacrifices made by law enforcement.
