US Embassy in Pakistan issues update on visa appointment scheduling, DS-160 form

The US Embassy in Pakistan has released an important advisory for visa applicants encountering issues with mismatched barcodes between their visa appointment confirmations and submitted DS-160 application forms.

“If the barcode on your appointment does not match the one on your submitted visa application form, urgent action is required,” the embassy stated in a video message posted on its official Facebook page.

Through its “Ask the Consul” program, the embassy emphasized that any mismatch should be corrected immediately. “Applicants are strongly advised not to submit misleading or fake documents in an attempt to resolve the issue, as this can lead to the outright denial of the visa application,” the statement warned.

To fix the problem, the embassy advised applicants to cancel their current appointment and book a new one using the correct and updated DS-160 form. The steps include logging into the online visa account, canceling the existing appointment if required, choosing a new date and time, and ensuring that the appointment barcode matches the DS-160 barcode.

The embassy also noted that this process can be completed independently and does not require third-party assistance.
