Mufti Kifayatullah Injured, Son and Daughter Killed in Malakand Firing Incident

MALAKAND, Saturday: JUI-F district chief Mufti Kifayatullah was injured in a firing incident at his home in Batkhela Tehsil, Malakand. His son and daughter were killed in the attack.

Levies officials said the shooting happened inside Mufti Kifayatullah’s residence. His wife was also injured and taken to hospital. The victims were moved to DHQ Hospital Batkhela for treatment and post-mortem.

According to hospital sources, Mufti Kifayatullah’s condition is stable. His wife is also receiving medical care.

Different reports have emerged about the attacker. Some sources said that an unidentified gunman entered the house and opened fire. Others claimed that the assailant was Mufti Kifayatullah’s own son, who fled after the shooting.

The deceased have been identified as Asmatullah, Mufti Kifayatullah’s son, and his daughter. Another daughter was also injured in the incident.

Police and Levies officials have launched an investigation. Security in the area has been tightened, and authorities are searching for the suspect.

Mufti Kifayatullah is a senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in Malakand. He has been active in local politics and religious affairs for many years.
