25 August, 2025 15:44

A seminar on “The Role of Youth as Global Leaders in an Emerging Pakistan” was held at the Islamic Research Institute. The proceedings began with a dignified flag-hoisting and cake-cutting ceremony to mark Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day. The event was jointly organized by the International Islamic University and the Ministry of Education and Professional Training. A book exhibition was also arranged to highlight the importance of knowledge and learning.

Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar attended as Guest of Honor, while Federal Minister for Planning Professor Ahsan Iqbal graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

In his address, Professor Ahsan Iqbal said, “After the Marka-e-Haq, our challenge now is the Marka-e-Taraqqi (battle for progress).” He emphasized that Pakistan’s future is bright and that the next two decades are critical. With hard work and unity, the country must emerge as a strong and developed nation on the world stage. He stressed that sustainable development and prosperity are impossible without peace, while national cohesion, ending sectarianism and polarization, and fulfilling the civic responsibilities of youth are the guarantees of Pakistan’s stability.

Minister of State Wajiha Qamar and other speakers underlined that education is the foundation of national development and prosperity. They highlighted how the youth, in addition to safeguarding ideological frontiers during the Marka-e-Haq, also set an example of national unity by supporting Pakistan’s armed forces on social media. Speakers further said that youth are Pakistan’s greatest asset, and through their role and sense of responsibility, polarization can be overcome to build a peaceful, united, and globally emerging Pakistan.

A large number of students participated in the event, and the national book exhibition was formally inaugurated by Minister of State Wajiha Qamar.
