More Heavy Rain Predicted Across Pakistan

Heavy Rainfall Triggers Urban Flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi; Margalla Hills Hiking Trails Closed
Islamabad, August 27, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a new alert for widespread heavy rainfall across the country. According to the forecast, strong monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal will enter the upper parts of Pakistan starting August 29. A westerly wave is also expected to reach central and northern regions from August 30.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan
From August 29 to September 2, heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected in Kashmir. The affected areas include Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur. Gilgit-Baltistan will also receive rain between August 30 and September 1, particularly in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The PMD warned that several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see heavy rainfall from August 29 to September 1. These include Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.
Punjab and Islamabad
Rainfall is also predicted in Punjab and Islamabad between August 29 and September 2. Areas likely to be affected include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, and Sahiwal.
Rain with occasional heavy falls is also expected in D.G. Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, and Rahimyar Khan from the night of August 29 to September 2.
Sindh
Some districts of Sindh, including Mithi, Tharparkar, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, and Umerkot, will likely see rain with thunderstorms on August 30 and 31.
Balochistan
The PMD added that Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi, Zhob, Kalat, and Khuzdar may receive rain with thunderstorms from August 30 to September 1.
Warning for People and Authorities
Authorities have advised citizens to take safety precautions. Heavy rainfall can cause flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding in low-lying areas. Farmers have been told to manage their crops carefully during this wet spell. Travelers are also advised to stay updated with weather alerts before moving through hilly areas.
