Heavy Rains Expected in Punjab Till September 5, Flood Situation To Escalate
Khyber – Torrential rains in Bara, Jamrud, and surrounding areas triggered flash floods, with water entering homes and shops, creating a critical situation.
Chunian – In Kanganpur, a protective embankment broke, flooding several villages including Ruknpura and Himmat Singh Wala. Thousands of acres of crops were submerged under floodwater.
Buner – Heavy rains increased water flow in the stream at Pir Baba Bazaar, where mud piles were swept away by flash floods.
Balakot – The Kaghan Highway, blocked by a landslide, was restored late at night. Dozens of vehicles had been stranded for hours. The National Highway Authority (NHA) cleared large boulders and reopened the road one-way, allowing passengers and tourists to continue their journey after a 4-hour delay.
Mandi Bahauddin – Two people drowned in floodwaters. Rescue teams recovered the bodies and handed them over to the families.
Ahmadpur Sial – One person drowned while trying to move to safety during rising floodwaters, according to rescue officials.
