China Supports Iran’s Peaceful Nuclear Rights

Beijing – Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Beijing on Tuesday and expressed strong support for Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy. Xi also made it clear that China opposes the use of force to resolve international disputes.

“Using force is not the right way to resolve differences. Lasting peace can only be achieved through communication and dialogue,” Xi said during their meeting, according to China’s state broadcaster CCTV.

President Xi reaffirmed that China respects Iran’s right to civilian nuclear energy and called for a fair solution to the nuclear issue that considers the legitimate concerns of all parties involved.

China also voiced opposition to recent moves by France, Britain, and Germany to reimpose United Nations sanctions on Iran. These European countries triggered the “snapback” mechanism, which could bring back sanctions lifted under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

China, Iran’s largest trade partner and a key ally, criticized the move and supported Iran amid growing tensions.

The action by European powers came after allegations that Iran had violated parts of the nuclear agreement. In response, Iran reduced its cooperation with the UN’s nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, especially after a 12-day conflict with Israel in June.

On Monday, members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)—including China, Iran, and Russia—issued a statement warning against any attempts to reinterpret the UN resolution that backs the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

The SCO leaders emphasized that misinterpreting this resolution could weaken the authority of the United Nations Security Council.

The meeting between Xi and Pezeshkian highlighted China’s consistent position on diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful development in global affairs.
