School students in Pakistan to get 2 holidays this week – check details
Schools in many parts of Punjab have reopened after a 90-day break, giving students a long-awaited return to classrooms. However, they can already look forward to an extended weekend as the government has announced a public holiday on September 6 for Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
The holiday falls on Saturday, giving children more time to spend with their families while commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), a day celebrated with respect by Muslims around the world.
Both government and private schools have resumed physical classes, but not everywhere. Flood-hit areas are still struggling, and 45 schools in Punjab remain closed. Some of these schools have been damaged by floodwaters, while others are being used as emergency relief centers for displaced families.
Authorities have directed all other schools to resume classes while stressing that safety measures and rescue operations continue in affected areas.
The announcement of the holiday ensures that students can return to their studies and still participate in religious festivities. For most, it marks a smooth transition back to normal routines, while for those in flood-hit areas, the wait for schools to reopen continues.
