LOS ANGELES (September 15, 2025) – Actress Hannah Einbinder used her first-ever Emmy acceptance speech to make a bold political statement, shouting “Free Palestine” while receiving the award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Hacks at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The 29-year-old Jewish actress went past the 45-second time limit set for winners’ speeches, but her powerful words quickly spread across social media and international news outlets.

Charity Donation at Stake

This year’s Emmys had a unique rule: host Nate Bargatze pledged a $100,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, with $1,000 deducted for every second a winner spoke beyond the allotted time.

Einbinder, aware she had exceeded her limit, promised on stage that she would personally cover the deducted amount to ensure the full donation still reached the charity.

Emmys as a Platform for Political Messages

The Emmys have long been used by stars to highlight social and political issues. Bargatze had earlier explained the time-limit challenge in a lighthearted manner, but Einbinder’s closing statement underscored how award shows remain a global stage for activism.

Her declaration of “Free Palestine” resonated strongly, sparking both support and debate online, particularly given the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.
