Karachi University Revokes Justice Tariq Mehmood’s LLB Degree for Unfair Practices
KARACHI: The University of Karachi has annulled the LLB degree and examination result of Tariq Mehmood, son of Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Qazi Muhammad Akram, following findings of malpractice.
According to a notification issued by the university’s Registrar, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, the decision was taken on the basis of recommendations from the Unfair Means Committee and approved during a Syndicate meeting held on August 31, 2024.
The investigation concluded that Tariq Mehmood had obtained his degree through unfair practices. Consequently, he has been barred for three years from seeking admission to any educational institution, including colleges and universities, or appearing in any examinations.
The notification also clarified that Tariq Mehmood was never an enrolled student of Islamia Law College, Karachi. His LLB enrollment number (AIL-7124/87) and seat number (22857) have been canceled in line with the Syndicate’s directives.
The decision, endorsed by the Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, has been formally conveyed to the Islamabad High Court Registrar, Sindh High Court Registrar, the Chief Secretary of Sindh, and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
