Self-Boarding System Introduced at Major Pakistani Airports

23 November, 2025 14:42

Pakistan’s major airports have introduced a modern self-boarding system aimed at speeding up the check-in process for passengers. The new kiosks—now operational at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport as well as airports in Islamabad and Karachi—allow travelers to instantly obtain boarding passes upon entering the terminal.

According to officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), these kiosks will operate alongside a newly launched e-application connected to the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS). Through this digital platform, international passengers can submit their complete travel profiles ahead of time, including visa data, employment details, and the purpose of their trip.

The upgraded system will integrate all airlines operating in Pakistan, enabling verified passengers to move directly to the departure lounge, collect their boarding pass automatically, and complete immigration procedures within minutes.

Previously, travelers often experienced long queues—both while waiting for boarding passes and during immigration checks. FIA officials confirmed that the new e-application includes enhanced security protocols requiring users to upload essential documents and answer verification questions before approval.

Authorities say the initiative is expected to ease congestion, boost efficiency, and significantly improve the overall travel experience at Pakistan’s busiest airports.
