Pakistan keeps electricity tariffs slabs unchanged for 2026

09 January, 2026 16:53

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to maintain the existing electricity tariffs for all consumer categories across Pakistan, following recommendations from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

The decision ensures that domestic consumers will continue to pay the same rates as last year, helping households manage their electricity expenses without sudden increases.

According to NEPRA, the maximum electricity tariff for domestic consumers will remain at Rs 47.69 per unit. The regulatory authority has submitted its recommendations on a uniform national tariff to the federal government for final approval, which will confirm the implementation.

For protected domestic consumers, NEPRA has suggested keeping the tariff at Rs 10.54 per unit for monthly consumption between 1 and 100 units. Usage from 101 to 200 units will continue to be charged at Rs 13.01 per unit.

For non-protected domestic consumers, the proposed tariff is Rs 22.44 per unit for up to 100 units and Rs 28.91 per unit for 101 to 200 units. Consumers using 201 to 300 units will pay Rs 33.10 per unit, while higher consumption brackets will continue to follow existing rates: 301–400 units at Rs 37.99, 401–500 at Rs 40.22, 501–600 at Rs 41.62, and 601–700 at Rs 42.76.

Those using more than 700 units per month will pay Rs 47.69 per unit. NEPRA also mentioned that final bills may vary depending on taxes or additional surcharges.

For lifeline consumers, households using up to 50 units per month will be charged Rs 3.95 per unit, while usage between 51 and 100 units will cost Rs 7.74 per unit.

NEPRA’s recommendations aim to provide stability in electricity bills for households and domestic consumers. The federal government will now review the proposal and issue the official confirmation, ensuring that electricity tariffs remain predictable and manageable for the coming year.
