Roads closed after heavy snowfall in Balochistan
A new western weather system has entered northern Balochistan through Iran, bringing fresh rain and heavy snowfall to different parts of the region.
According to reports, several districts have already been affected by this weather spell. Areas including Quetta, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Saranan, Gulistan, and Jangal Pir Alizai have received rainfall. At the same time, heavy snowfall is continuing in higher areas such as Kozak Top, Shela Bagh, and Loi Band.
Many link roads that were blocked during the earlier snow spell are still closed, causing difficulties for local residents. Rescue and road-clearing teams are working to reopen these routes and restore access to affected areas.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a fresh weather alert for the coming days. The system is expected to move towards Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today and remain active until February 4.
Both provinces may experience rain, while hilly and mountainous areas could see snowfall. Authorities have also warned about the risk of landslides and avalanches in vulnerable regions.
People living in or traveling to mountainous areas have been advised to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.
