Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case; Two Masked Kidnappers Suspected, Are They Tommaso Cioni And Dominic Evans?
Tucson, Arizona — February 2026: The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, has entered a new phase as investigators review surveillance footage that may suggest more than one person was involved in the alleged abduction.
However, authorities have stressed that no suspects have been officially identified or charged, and all theories circulating online remain unverified.
FBI Releases Footage of Masked Person of Interest
The FBI recently released high-resolution images and video clips recovered from residual data linked to Nancy Guthrie’s home security system. The footage shows a masked individual outside her Tucson residence during the early hours of January 31, 2026, the night she was last seen.
The individual appears to be wearing a ski mask, gloves, dark clothing, and a backpack. In the footage, the person approaches the front door and partially obscures the doorbell camera using nearby foliage.
Officials say the release was intended to generate public tips, not to identify a suspect.
Experts Debate Whether More Than One Person Was Involved
Following the footage release, some former investigators and analysts publicly discussed the possibility that two individuals may have been involved, based on movement patterns seen in the video.
A private investigator commenting online suggested that certain gestures in the footage could indicate coordination with someone off camera. A former FBI official also told media outlets that, due to Nancy Guthrie’s age, more than one person may have been required to move her.
Authorities have not confirmed these interpretations.
Online Speculation Names Individuals — Police Issue No Confirmation
As the footage circulated widely, social media speculation intensified, with users naming individuals they believe resemble the masked figure. These claims are not supported by law enforcement.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI have repeatedly stated:
No individuals have been named as suspects
No arrests have been made
No identities from the footage have been confirmed
Officials have urged the public not to speculate or harass private citizens, warning that misinformation can harm the investigation.
Investigation Remains Active
Nancy Guthrie has now been missing for several days. Authorities continue to treat the case as an abduction and say all credible tips are being reviewed.
Savannah Guthrie and her family have renewed their public plea, stating they believe Nancy is still alive and asking anyone with verified information to contact law enforcement.
