UAE Introduces Unified AED 50 Daily Overstay Fine for All Visa Categories

UAE to resume work visa issuance for Pakistani workers soon
Dubai, UAE – The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has introduced a simplified, unified overstay fine system, effective immediately.
Under the new rules, anyone overstaying their visa will be charged AED 50 per day, regardless of visa type—tourist, visit, residence, or cancelled-residence. Previously, fines varied by visa category, causing confusion among travelers.
Key Details:
Flat-rate fine: AED 50 per day for all visa types.
Tourist/visit visas: Fines begin from the first day after expiration.
Cancelled residence visas: A 30-day grace period applies before fines start.
Payment & checking fines: Overstay fines can be checked and paid via the ICP platform, GDRFA portal, or Amer service centers.
Authorities remind travelers that unpaid fines may prevent boarding flights, and immigration counters at airports and borders remain available for last-minute payments.
The new system also simplifies compliance for HR departments and global mobility teams when managing employee visas and deadlines.
