Iran Proposes International Committee to Investigate Middle East Attacks, Suggests Israeli Involvement
Iran has proposed the creation of an international investigative committee to examine recent attacks on countries in the Middle East, signaling a push for increased regional accountability, according to Abbas Araghchi, the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Addressing reporters, Araghchi suggested that Israel may be behind strikes targeting civilian areas in Arab nations, emphasizing that Tehran has not attacked any civilian or residential zones in Gulf countries. He also raised concerns about the potential use of US-made drones in recent assaults on regional targets.
“Iran welcomes any international strategy or initiative that could lead to a complete end to the war,” Araghchi said, highlighting Tehran’s willingness to engage in multilateral diplomacy to reduce tensions in the Gulf.
He confirmed that diplomatic consultations with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman will continue, underscoring Iran’s preference for dialogue over escalation. Analysts suggest that the proposal for an investigative committee may aim to ease growing regional mistrust while asserting Iran’s opposition to attacks on civilians.
The announcement comes amid heightened concerns over Gulf security, as multiple countries have called for transparency and accountability regarding cross-border strikes. Tehran’s initiative could provide a platform for international monitoring, though how other regional powers will respond remains uncertain.
