A controversy has erupted in the Bhojpuri entertainment industry after a viral video showed Dhananjay Sharma lifting a female dancer and throwing her into the audience during a live stage performance in Bihar, sparking widespread outrage on social media.
The video, which quickly circulated online, captures Sharma dragging a dancer who was on stage toward the crowd. During the incident, the dancer falls to the stage and attempts to leave, but the singer picks her up from behind, carries her in his arms and tosses her into the audience. People present at the venue then help the dancer up and place her back on the ground, after which she returns to the stage.
The anchor hosting the event criticised the act during the show, telling Sharma that such behaviour was unacceptable and pointing out that the individual involved was a woman who should not have been treated in that manner.
Following the backlash, Sharma responded to the controversy and claimed the dancer had behaved inappropriately with him during the performance. In a video shared on Instagram, he said the public had not seen the full context of the incident.
“During the song, I was supposed to collide with the dancers, but they did not do that. Instead, they held my entire body and tried to push me off the stage. In the middle of this, one model started kicking me and placing her hand on my chest. What kind of behaviour is this?” he said.
Sharma further stated that he had no intention of throwing a woman in front of the audience and insisted the situation escalated unintentionally.
“I was pushing her on stage. It was not my intention to throw her into the crowd. I will upload the full video of the incident. Those who are abusing me should know the complete truth before trolling me,” he said.
Authorities have taken notice of the incident. The Bihar Police has directed the Muzaffarpur Police to investigate the matter after the video gained widespread attention online.
