Saudi Arabia reserves right to military action against Iran: FM

19 March, 2026 11:34

Riyadh, March 19, 2026: Saudi Arabia has warned that it may take military action against Iran if attacks on Gulf countries continue. The warning came from Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud during a press conference in Riyadh.

He said trust between Saudi Arabia and Iran has been badly damaged. He also said Saudi patience is “not unlimited” and strong action could be taken if needed.

The warning came after missile attacks targeted Riyadh during a high-level diplomatic meeting. Officials said Saudi air defenses intercepted four ballistic missiles aimed at the city.

Debris reportedly fell near a refinery south of Riyadh. Interceptors were launched close to the meeting venue, showing the seriousness of the threat.

The meeting was attended by officials from several countries, including Turkey, the UAE, Jordan, Qatar, and Syria.

The conflict has spread across the region. Iran has been accused of targeting key energy sites.

Officials say Ras Laffan in Qatar suffered damage. The UAE’s Habshan facility was also targeted.

These attacks have raised concerns about global energy supply and stability.

Prince Faisal accused Iran of following a long-term aggressive strategy in the region. He said recent attacks appear planned and not defensive.

He also blamed Iran for supporting proxy groups in countries like Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon. He said such actions have increased instability in the region.

Despite the strong warning, Saudi Arabia said it still supports dialogue and peaceful solutions. However, officials admitted that trust between the two countries has been “completely shattered.”

Prince Faisal warned that if Iran does not stop its actions, rebuilding trust will become almost impossible.

The ongoing conflict has affected global markets. Oil prices have risen sharply due to fears of supply disruption.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to exchange strong statements and actions.

Saudi Arabia has urged Iran to change its approach immediately to avoid further escalation.
