IRGC Navy Ready to Defend Iran’s Maritime Borders, Strait of Hormuz

How Strait of Hormuz closure in US-Israeli war on Iran could trigger an energy crisis
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced it is fully prepared to defend Iran’s territorial waters. This includes the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The navy vowed to counter any hostile moves by foreign forces in the region.
IRGC Retaliation Against US and Israeli Aggression
In a statement on Thursday, the IRGC said it carried out a new military operation as part of its 63rd wave of retaliatory attacks. These strikes targeted US and allied military bases following an earlier unprovoked attack against Iran.
According to the IRGC, key sites at al-Dhafra and Minhad bases in the UAE, al-Adairi in Kuwait, and Mina Salman in Bahrain were hit. Buildings housing commanders, fuel tanks, and military equipment were among the targets.
Missile and Drone Strikes
Iranian forces used a combination of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. Early-warning radars, fuel tanks, and central ramps of enemy bases were destroyed. The IRGC said these strikes were meant to show its readiness to confront threats in the Persian Gulf.
Blocking the Strait of Hormuz
The Iranian military has also blocked the Strait of Hormuz to oil and gas tankers affiliated with adversary nations. The IRGC emphasized that the strait falls under Iran’s sovereignty, and all navigation must follow Tehran’s rules.
On Thursday, a 160,000-ton oil tanker flying the Barbados flag retreated after attempting to enter the restricted area. The IRGC described this as a demonstration of Iran’s active deterrence and a new balance of power in the region.
IRGC Statement
“The IRGC Navy is ready to defend Iran’s maritime borders. Any conspiracy by enemies in the Persian Gulf or Strait of Hormuz will be strongly confronted,” the statement read.
The IRGC reiterated that its actions are a response to the US-Israeli military assault on February 28, which targeted Iran’s leadership and civilian infrastructure.
